QuoteWe were delighted to secure a ground work project for Rochford District Council consisting of two small but interesting jobs at two public parks.

The Challenge.

Ruggles & Jeffery were delighted to secure a project with Rochford District Council, consisting of two small but interesting jobs at two public parks. Our groundworks team had to improve the Reservoir bank and reconstruct a footbridge, after severe flood damage that was a Health & Safety risk.

We recognised the importance and urgency of the project and both jobs were successfully completed with a minimal lead-in time. As a result the client was delighted with the result and the affected parkland was soon re-opened to the public.

The Solution.

Our first task was to reinstate a pathway around the perimeter of Rochford Reservoir that had been washed away when the adjacent stream burst its banks. The 100 meter stretch of path was dug out and a new sub base was laid. Most of the loose spoil was used as compacted blinding and a new shale and grit top surface was laid.

The second job was to reconstruct a footbridge over a stream at Sweyne Park that had again been damaged by floodwaters. The stream pipes were cleared through and realigned and the substructure of the bridge was re-built. The top surface was re-laid and the slumped handrails were dug out and re-bedded in new foundations.
