Dean Groombridge, Carillion Project and Lifecycle Manager

The Challenge.

Our client was experiencing problems with members of the public gaining unauthorised access to roof areas via an external fire escape staircase. We needed to secure access to the staircase at ground floor level without compromising the integrity of the escape route.

Results.

The objectives were fully achieved – the integrity of the escape route was maintained and access to the staircase was secured.

The Solution.

We supplied and erected a 3m high circular cage round the existing staircase and gate. We used 358 mesh fixed to posts with clamp bars and curved rails. At the bottom of the staircase we also supplied and fixed a gate with an infill above including an internal push pad exit button with shroud that could only be activated from within cage.
